Digital hearing aids for different hearing loss levels

Hearing problems of all patients are not the same and thus the treatment too differs. It is imperative that you know the extent of your deficiency before going for a digital hearing aid or any other hearing equipment.

High frequency loss:

In this case the patient is not able to hear high pitch sounds and gradually the power of communication too depreciates. Letters such as F, T, Z, S become hard to recognize and this can become very frustrating for the patient. In this type of hearing loss, the patient needs high end automatic digital aids to moderate the bad experience.

Unilateral loss:

Hearing problem occurs in one of the ears only. It becomes hard for the patient to determine the direction of sounds and the level of sound. Faint noises are heard such that they are coming from a distance when actually they are too near.
Mild loss:

Patients with this category of hearing loss only perceive 80% of the sound that they hear. They are unable to answer calls and stand confused in between several sources of sounds.
Moderate loss:

Only 50% of the sound around is perceived and it calls for the patient to go for immediate effective treatment as the problem deteriorates with time. Digital hearing aids are a good advice. When the perception level reaches less that 10%, it amounts to severe hearing loss.
Profound loss:

In this case the only tool available for the patient to communicate is lip reading.
